'Lords and Gentlewomen' is an instrumental rock opera. Operas traditionally include lyrics and singing, but the point here is to convey the essence of the story with music –– words can actually be limiting and can hinder the communication if not done just right. It is possible that lyrical versions may arise in the future. However, sometimes myths or legends can be better if they are left a little vague. Think of any movie version that spoiled a story. The story or story versions implied or told here is/are influenced by classic RPG video games that are core myths of our time. Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy I/IV/VI, Mystic Quest, The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II, A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario Brothers 1-4, Donkey Kong Country, & Disney's Aladdin (itself a version of Arabian Nights). This classic, pro-patriarchal hero-saves-princess tale's sounds are influenced by these games; soundtracks, as well as The Cure, Butthole Surfers, Culture Club, Bad Brains, and jazz. Lance has long threatened to make a goth reggae album, and in some ways this is it. Dance to it.
