Beginning with "Cynical" and ending with "Demolition Man," 'Cynical Demolition is a 16-song collection of 90s-style grunge-inflected punk rock and hardcore punk with just a couple of dabblings into cleaner guitars or techno-electronica. This is a digitally-produced album with processed guitar distortion and programmed drum loops, but the sound and energy are of influences like GBH, Bad Religion, The Damned, Cro-Mags, Suicidal Tendencies, The Vandals, Agent Orange, and Dead Kennedys strained through a post-Nirvana 90s alt-rock filter. These songs almost all originated between 1996 and 2005, and it shows in the compositions –– the 2020 computer production polish brings out their essential shine atop gritty foundations. Released at the height of covid hysteria, some lyrical and graphic elements here resonate as profoundly prophetic.
