Twisted, distortion-effected drum loops pop, sizzle, and flow as clean, folksy lo-fi acoustic guitar and subtle backing basslines are topped with raw vocalizations served in a hot plastic-processed coating. This singer-songwriter effort is firmly planted in its own brand of inaccessible post-grunge indie fuzz and psychedelic weirdness while still coming across as natural and endearing. Recorded on a 4-track cassette recorder, it achieves its stripped-down sonic purpose while still feeling full –– it is forthright and straightforward, yet adventurous. This unique style explored here retained punk rock grit while allowing for artsy, layered minimalism.
